LegalZoom Plans Delivery of Legal Forms from Vending Machines

LegalZoom, the online legal forms company that reportedly has drafted more than a million wills, plans to roll out convenience store vending machines that will dispense “customized legal forms in a can,” a company spokesperson disclosed yesterday.

Consumers would enter personal information into the vending machine’s keyboard validator and, within a minute, the machine drafts a personalized form, packages it in a can or plastic bottle, and delivers it to the machine’s “ZoomDoor” for pick up.

LegalZoom says that it plans to price its canned forms by the size of the can. A “complicated” divorce petition would cost $3.75 and comes in a “megasized” 20 ounce plastic bottle. A less complicated matter would come in a twelve ounce can and cost $2.75.

LegalZoom says focus-group testing has led to the company speeding up production of the machines. “Consumers have been ecstatic about the product and its delivery. People just want their legal services delivered now, and in a recyclable can or bottle. It’s just been phenomenal,” said Arthur P. MacKay.
