A college student who has been considering enrolling in law school in 2012 has formed an exploratory committee to determine if law school really is for him. Shane Chambers, a junior at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, said he has wanted to go to law school since high school “and I’m taking the next step toward that goal, forming an exploratory committee.”
Chambers said that his mother, a girlfriend, and “Craig” are currently on the committee, which plans to meet at Jimmy John’s next week to go over Chambers’s qualifications and desires. “This is a solid first step for me on my way to considering the potential to maybe go to law school,” Chambers said. “But it’s pretty serious. Rock on.”
Exploratory committees, typically used by U.S. presidential candidates to compel journalists to run a news story, is gaining popularity among common citizens, including undergraduates considering law school. Chambers is the seventh college junior to announce such an exploratory committee this year.
