In a first for the country, an injury in a Florida grocery store did not lead to a lawsuit, according to lawyers closely monitoring the situation.
Arlo P. Stanton, 43, broke his wrist while reaching for a can of soup at Food Gorge in Kissimmee, Florida. Stanton says he’s not sure what happened, simply explaining that “one thing I was reaching for some beef stew, the next thing I was rolling around on the floor. It was Hurtinville.”
He said he had no plans to sue the supermarket, despite encouragement from his friends and coworkers. “I dunno. Shit happens,” he explained. “I fell. Maybe I reached too quickly for the stew. Maybe it was the Cutty Sark I drank. I got nothing against Food Gorge. Plus, I got my beef stew for free.”
